Hey Bliss With Liss Fam! I decided to come show some love on here and share a little music info with y’all (which is what my blog street-poetry is about by the way)! So, as some of you may know (and if you don’t, you need to), the 2018 Grammy nominations came out yesterday morning, and this is the most excited I’ve been for the Grammys in a while!
*SIDE NOTE: I almost have this desire for more black artists to finally get their due recognition, but at the same time, I feel like we shouldn’t care or need to be validated by the masses.
BUT ANYWAY! Back to these nominees! It appears as though Hip-Hop and R&B artists are taking over this shindig, with the top nominees being Jay-Z (8 nominations), Kendrick Lamar (7 nominations), Bruno Mars (6 nominations), and my girl, SZA (5 nominations). Sis is also the most Grammy-nominated woman this year, and I sincerely hope she skips away with new pieces for her mantlepiece, leaving sprinkles of black girl magic behind.
What I think I’m excited about is the fact that not only are the nominees for the R&B and Rap categories lit, but these artists are dominating the GENERAL FIELD categories like Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, etc. as well. I’m eager to see how his plays out. One thing I did notice is that A Tribe Called Quest’s LAST album We Got It From Here…Thank You 4 Your Service was not amongst the chosen ones…that doesn’t seem right to me, and if definitely doesn’t feel right to Q-Tip. The artist took to Instagram and went OFF, calling out the Grammy’s:
Take a look at the nominees for yourselves here and let us know what y’all think. Did the Grammy’s get it right or are they overlooking some people? Also, be sure to click over to my blog and see what Liss has to say about the nominees!
Sending love and good vibes your way!

Beyonce said the new date for Halloween is November 3rd, so Halloween is now on November 3rd.
The Queen (Bey) payed homage to the “Original Queen B” and dressed up as some of Lil Kim’s most iconic looks (dropping the pics fashionably late of course).
As we know, Lil Kim is a fashion Icon. She went above and beyond, challenging the status quo for how a pop star should look. She wore daring looks that were forever branded in your memory. She opened the doors for women after her such as Rihanna and Beyonce to wear whatever they want and own their sexuality.
All Hail the Queens. Check out the pics below.
So you know what that means….. Some new music just dropped.
A lot of people have been anticipating the release of Big Krit and Ty Dolla $ign’s albums and they are finaly here and they are HOT!! If you haven’t heard them yet. Check it out below.

Another track that’s been buzzin is Migos new song Motor Sport feat. Nicki Minaj and Cardi B. Yes, thats Nicki and Cardi!! I’ve been waiting for a collab from the them, and was so excited to hear the new song.
Both Nicki and Cardi was spittin’ bars on this one, but it was Takeoff’s verse that seemed to have people talking the most. He came in right after Nicki with straight heat. I guess it’s safe to say he definitely wasn’t left off this one…
Who do you think had the best verse? Listen to it below.
Happy Friday everyone,

So for those of you who don’t know I am a College Marketing Rep for Warner Music.
Let me just start off to say I love this job! It’s honestly a lot more demanding than I anticipated, but already I’ve learned so much about the industry and how to successfully market an artist. I’ve had a few internships in the entertainment industry, but with WMG I am finally getting to do exactly what I want.
So what do I do…?
Lol, but no really it’s a lot of work but its tons of fun.
I am one of the DC marketing reps, and basically its my job to enhance the exposure of our WMG artist throughout the DC area. Some of those things include but are not limited to:
- Facilitate artist events on campus such as tabling events where I display all of our artists paraphernalia.
- Cultivate relationships with different DJs and tastemakers to promote our artists
- Handle social media accounts
- Attend and help with concerts, gauging the audience’s reaction
- Set up Interviews with local radio stations with our artists
- Submit bi-weekly reports
- Network and learn the ropes of the business
It’s honestly one of the best jobs any student could ask for, especially if you have a passion to be in the industry.
Here are some pics from an event I had sometime last week.
Here is me and Zach (the other DC rep)

Cardi B is the first female rapper to reach the top of the charts with a solo record, since Lauryn Hill in 1998. “Bodak Yellow” debuted in June and has been reigning supreme all summer. Congratulations Cardi, its well deserved.

Some other rappers in the game took her success and congratulated the “young boss” via social media.
Keep her spins up.
