Lately, I’ve been listening to a lot of female rap. I’ve had Saweetie’s new EP on repeat since it dropped, and I’ve been playing a lot of Kashdoll, City Girls, Lil Kim, and Nicki Minaj of course.
Nicki (love her with all my heart) has been reigning supreme for 10+ years, and although never lacking, its refreshing to see this new wave of ladies enter the scene. A lot of these male rappers sound the same anyways, but the girls have been killin’ it. The past year has been great for female rap. Nicki dropped endless features this past summer, gearing up for her much anticipated album; Kashdoll went viral with her hit “For Everybody:” and Cardi B has simply had an unstoppable year. There’s so many more I didn’t mention but check out these names: Saweetie, Kamaiyah, City Girls, Megan thee Stallion, Kodie Shane, Molly Brazy, Asian Doll, Renni Rucci, Cuban Doll, Kashdoll…
My friend asked me to send her some new music from female artists , and after watching Roxanne Roxanne on Netflix I got inspired to do a playlist featuring all female emcees.
Yall know I have an old soul, but if you haven’t already, definitely check out the movie. I grew up hearing about Roxanne Shante, but never really knew about her background. Nia Long hilariously stars in the movie as Roxanne’s mother, and I’ve never seen her in a role like this. She definitely adds a comedic relief to the film.

This week’s featured wine is the “Yellow Tail Chardonnay.” I prefer sweeter wines if I’m drinking cheaper brands, but this was given to me as a gift. This brand is another college-budget friendly wine, ranging between $8-$10. I was torn between buying another of pink moscato(my fave) bottle and just drinking something I already had at home (this). I did a quick Instagram poll, just to see what brand of moscato I should get and most voted Sutter Home Pink Moscato.. . I was going to go to the store and pick it up until someone sent me an article about arsenic being found in their bottles. The article is a couple years old, and the bottles have not been recalled, but I figured I’d stay on the safe side, drink what I have, and do a little bit more research later. I’m the type to hear something about food/drinks and cut it out completely lol.
Overall, Chardonnay is not my favorite. This was my first time trying Yellow Tail and I must say… This is actually the worst wine I’ve ever had. Yellow Tail is pretty popular though, but its honestly a trash brand as far as quality wines go. It’s Australian wine and very poorly made. I won’t ever purchase, and probably never drink again. I’ve only had the chardonnay but I don’t even want to risk with another type of wine *shrugs*.
